Paw paw nicecreams

Random cravings. Spontaneous urges to appease your tastebuds (with that something in particular). I’m as sure as cocoa is to chocolate that no person is immune from these bouts of foodie-madness (in case it required a label). And today was no exception for yours truly.

Within an hour from sunset (we’re in the final few days of Ramadaan), I was struck with a random craving for a nicecream.Incidentally, this millennial strike hit me as I strolled through my kitchen and caught sight of a perfectly ripe paw-paw. In no less than 30 minutes later this little paw-paw nicecreamly decorated our dinner table.

As an aside (perhaps even motivation), it remains a constant struggle for me to eat healthily  (especially when it comes to eating fruit)… so mixing a couple ingredients into this little palava of deliciousness seemed nothing short of genius – and it was (as I’m sure you’ll agree, when you try it out)!

As for the nicecream, it is banana based with added rosewater and coconut – flavours which contribute to the texture, flavour and aesthetics. I chose to top this nicecream off and decorate it with a few dates, some of my homemade muesli (see previous posts for this recipe) and a touch of cranberries.

RECIPE:

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 of a paw paw

  • 2 frozen bananas

  • 2 teaspoons of rosewater 

  • 1/3 cup of coconut milk

Method:

  • Blend the banana first until you can see it slowly turning into a fluffy nicecream

  • Then add the above, blitz a bit more, and voilá!
