Seated at "Yours Truly" on Cape Town's vibrant Kloof Street, in what appears to be the heart of summer, is an interesting and obvious contrast to being seated at any one coffee shop in London. Truth be told, my return to Cape Town has fallen short of illustrious, mainly given that it is somewhat more complex to draw an inspirational setting here, as compared to London. So, as human as I am, I turned to chocolate for solace... particularly, chocolate cake. This "5 ingredient" chocolate cake is not only the perfect quick-fix-comfort-treat, it 100% hits the spot. (un)Surprisingly, it's quite a rich cake ... so instead of using chocolate ganache (which you may prefer), I chose to use a lemon-zested-buttercream to counter the overly rich chocolate taste (worked out well, I'd say). Regardless of reason, motivation or inspiration required... give this recipe a try... it's sure to be a crowd pleaser.
