Jelly Donuts!

August 17, 2017

I am clearly going through a donut phase, although I also don't really think that it is the worst phase to be going through. I made these donuts two days ago, and for those of you who follow me on Instagram, you may have seen my short video I uploaded on how I actually go about making these. This was my first try at making a round donuts, from a dough and deep frying them. For the record, I do think baked donuts are healthier and taste just as good as fried donuts, but the trick to frying donut's really is something  to be mastered.

Having said that, this is my new recipe testing project! I love eating these round doughy balls of goodness as much as the next person, but I am trying to make them healthier and lighter with every recipe test that I do. These were made from a basic recipe to see where I could improve, and the main ingredients that will have to be adjusted for next time (hint hint: gluten-free flour).

I am not embarrassed to show you all how my recipe's come out- when I consider them to be very average and a borderline "fail" because I think that even a loss or a bad outcome is good, as it allows you to see where you can focus on more the next time round. The jam inside was a perfect addition to these mini donuts, and in the future I am definitely going to make them gluten and sugar free- so I don't have to watch how many I eat every time. Guilt free eating is the way forward and that means making the things we love- with less of the things we don't really need.
