A dutch baby is such a lovely morning treat especially if you like sharing your food, if not, then stick to the usual individual pancakes hehe. They seem to tricky to make because they rise in the oven and once you remove the skillet, the pancake itself drops quite a bit in height. The entire pancake is baked but it can look as if it is not, so be weary when you are trying this recipe out.
Recipe: Dutch baby pancake
3/4 cup flour
1/2 cup milk
2 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. butter
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla essence
Preheat your oven to 250 degrees C, and set your skillet aside.
Blend all your ingredients together in a blender, making sure to scrape down all the sides.
Then allow the batter to rest for 15 minutes.
Place the skillet in the oven once it is hot, and allow the pan to heat up completely. Once this is done, add the butter and swirl it around the pan making sure to get all the edges.
Pour in the batter quickly and coat all sides of the skillet and place it back into the oven and allow it to bake for about 15-20 minutes. The pancake should puff up a lot and brown nicely, if it starts to go too brown then place foil over it.
Once removed from the oven, serve with maple syrup and ice cream and enjoy hot!
